DIY Lego Apple iPhone Docking Station

I’ve been looking at various alarm clock docks for my iPhone, but I have had trouble finding one that is affordable, and can allow docking with my Griffin Wave case. Then I googled DIY iPhoneDock and found one that was made out of LEGOS. It just so happens I had a few boxes of LEGOs in the attic.

I had two simple goals for this project.
1. Dock my phone without removing my case or altering the case/dock.
2. Dock in portrait or landscape mode.

I put a small amount of hot glue on the standard Apple USB cable to make sure it stays in place. Then I just built around the iPhone.

UPDATE – March 30, 2012

I decided to take another look at this project and make some changes so it would now fit an iPhone 4/4S,  with a different case.  All that was needed was single layer behind the iPhone to allow for a flush fit and reduce stress on the dock connector.
